Politicians Weigh In on Luring DaimlerChrysler Plant to Pooler, Ga.

Oct. 18--No automotive plant has located here since 1947.
While its neighbors have successfully lured automakers and their jobs, Georgia has watched enviously from the sidelines.
Thursday, the drought ended.
The announcement by Gov. Roy Barnes that DaimlerChrysler has chosen Pooler to build a mammoth van plant -- one expected to create 3,300 jobs and inject hundreds of millions of dollars into the local economy -- had officials at both the state and local levels heartily patting each other on the back.
