South Carolina Electric & Gas Bills to Rise.

Oct. 23--Natural gas customers of South Carolina Electric & Gas can expect to pay more when their November statements come due.

The state Public Service Commission has approved a request by the utility to pass on rising wholesale prices to its retail customers. The average gas-equipped household in SCE&G's service territory burns 100 therms a month in the winter, the company said. For those 242,000 residential customers, bills would go up $13.20 a month, to almost $106, during the peak four-month heating season. Rates would be $3 higher for the other months, the utility projected. Stretched over a year, the proposed increase adds up to $76.80 for the average household....
