Regulators Approve South Carolina Electric & Gas Price Hike.

Oct. 23--Columbia area residents will pay more to heat their homes this winter.
South Carolina Electric & Gas Co. will raise the price it charges for natural gas by 14 percent. The higher rates will appear with November's billing cycle.
The S.C. Public Service Commission, in a 6-0 vote, approved the higher rates Tuesday.
A typical residential customer using 100 therms a month this winter will pay $105.69 a month, or $13.20 more than now. Non-winter costs after April 1 will rise about $3 a month, officials said.
