Weyerhaeuser Boosts Focus to Sales of Paper Products.

Nov. 30--Weyerhaeuser hopes targeting Costco and other national retailers can help paper over its difficulties in the wood business.

Though Weyerhaeuser is best known for vast stands of trees, sales of paper and boxes account for nearly half of its revenue. The company makes everything from cardboard fruit containers and point-of-purchase displays to paper bags.

Debt from its $8 billion acquisition of Willamette Industries and costs from a continuing lumber-trade dispute with Canada make profit from those products especially critical.
