Rhode Island to Join Lawsuit over Bush Administration's New Clean-Air Rules.

Nov. 29--PROVIDENCE, R.I.--Atty. Gen. Sheldon Whitehouse plans to join eight other state attorneys general in filing a federal lawsuit challenging new air pollution regulations announced by the Bush administration last Friday that the states think will actually leave the air dirtier.

"It is outrageous and deeply frustrating that the Bush administration has ignored the concerns of the Northeast and is now proposing regulatory changes that, if unchallenged, would actually increase the pollution from Midwestern power plants spewing pollution into Rhode Island, and threaten our health and the health of our kids," Whitehouse said.
