Unnamed Suitor Takes a Run at Rawlings Sporting Goods Co.

Nov. 29--An unidentified party has expressed interested in acquiring Rawlings Sporting Goods Co., a move that pushed the sports-equipment maker's board to revive a "poison pill" plan in case the overture becomes hostile.

Rawlings did not identify the suitor in a news release issued late Wednesday. The company said only that the suitor was proposing a stock-for-stock transaction at a premium to Rawlings' share price.

The company said it was evaluating the suitor's interest in a possible acquisition but noted that the interest was preliminary and was subject to a number of conditions.
