Ratings Success Is New Reality for ABC.

Nov. 27--Bolstered by The Bachelor, ABC on Tuesday projected that it will finish second in the key measurement in the November sweeps, a dramatic turnaround from its fourth-place showing a year ago. The network also will bank heavily on more reality series that executives promise won't tarnish the Disney brand.

ABC entered the sweeps hoping that ratings would remain flat, but they grew 8 percent in the 18-to-49 age demographic that drives the network's business. It marked a welcome rebound for the Disney-owned network after a terrible performance last season.

"This is a big victory for us," said ABC Entertainment President Susan Lyne.
