Study Shows San Jose, Calif., Area Is Hot Spot for Liver Cancer Disease.

Nov. 26--Dr. Samuel So, director of the Asian Liver Cancer Center at Stanford is spearheading a "Jade Ribbon" (he wears one on his lab coat lapel) campaign to increase awareness among Asians they as a group have a higher probability to be infected with hepatitis.
Anthony Chiu, a 34-year-old Stanford graduate who moved to the Bay Area from Hong Kong, had a painful stomachache two years ago that Pepto-Bismol couldn't cure.
At first, he suspected food poisoning from a curry dinner. But doctors soon detected a malignant tumor the size of a tennis ball in his liver.
