Nov. 15--For years, the Chevrolet/GMC Suburban has been known as the unofficial state vehicle of Texas, and for General Motors, this special relationship between Texans and the Suburban has been profitable.

In fact, 30 percent of all Suburbans built are sold in Texas, and for years no self-respecting gentleman rancher or oilman would have been caught without at least one Suburban in his garage.

For years, GM called both the Chevy and GMC versions of this extra-long, full-size sport utility the Suburban, but a couple of years ago, the GMC version was renamed the Yukon XL. It's still virtually identical to the Chevy model, but it gets the same first...
