Bangkok, Thailand, Transit Agency Says Holding Company Would Speed Skytrain.

Nov. 14--A new holding company that would raise funds to finance the extension of the Bangkok skytrain system would help speed up the project at a time of state budget constraints, according to the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA).

The BMA and Bangkok Transit System Co (BTSC), the skytrain operator, would have a combined stake of 51 percent, said Chalermsak Rabilwongse, director of the megaprojects division of the Office of the Land Traffic Management Commission.

The company, likely to be called BTSC 2, would be the project manager, while other mass transit operators and the public should be encouraged to help co-invest in the remaining shares,...
