Boston Beats Miami, Other Cities, to Host 2004 Democratic National Convention.

Nov. 14--The home of Paul Revere, the Red Sox and Harvard won the right Wednesday to host the 2004 Democratic National Convention, edging out Miami and two other cities.

Boston offered the most complete financial package, Democratic Party officials said, noting that Los Angeles, the site of the 2000 convention, put the party in a bind when it failed to provide all the promised money.

Boston offered to provide $49.5 million worth of goods and services to the Democratic Party, including $20 million in cash from private businesses.
