Three Sites Are in the Running for New Transit Center in Kirkland, Wash.

Nov. 5--The slump in demand for Eastside office space may end up being a boon for Kirkland bus riders.

Tomorrow night the City Council will discuss three options for a new downtown transit center. Two of the sites are on land owned by private businesses, each of which is looking for new opportunities after shelving plans for ambitious office towers.

The third site recommended by a committee of residents, city officials and others is an expansion of the existing transit center on Third Street.

The council, which does not have to accept the recommendations, is planning to get back to the committee soon so that the city can choose a final site by March....
