Former Philadelphia Airport Baggage Handler Indicted.

Nov. 1--A former Philadelphia International Airport baggage handler has been indicted by a federal grand jury for not telling authorities that he'd been convicted of several theft-related felonies.

The ex-baggage handler, Kyann Akim Lewis, is caught up in what appears to be part of post-9/11 efforts by federal authorities to make airports safer for travelers by ridding them of workers who are felons.

Lewis appears to be the first Philadelphia Airport employee indicted federally for failing to disclose his criminal record under a program called Operation Tarmac.

Nationwide, hundreds of other airport employees have been charged.
