Hewlett-Packard Executive Steps Down, May go to WorldCom.

Nov. 12--SAN FRANCISCO--Michael D. Capellas, the number two executive at Hewlett-Packard Co., announced his resignation yesterday, less than a year after he helped orchestrate the computer industry's largest-ever merger.
Capellas will vacate his position as HP's president and board member "to pursue other career opportunities," the company said yesterday.
Citing anonymous sources, The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal reported that Capellas, 47, had emerged as a leading candidate to become CEO of the troubled telecommunications provider, WorldCom Inc., which is expected to emerge from bankruptcy next year.
