AstraZeneca to Sell New Drug in Holland.

Nov. 8--Holland has become the first country to allow AstraZeneca to sell its new cholesterol-lowering drug Crestor.

Now others should soon follow, opening up a market which could be worth yearly sales of UKpound 3.3 billion to Astra.

The fat-busting market is growing at 20 percent a year and Crestor is the blockbuster Astra needs to replace existing drugs which are losing patent protection. "I think you will see Crestor hit the streets during 2003 across all the main markets," said chief executive Tom McKillop. Approval from the US is vital, but regulators have demanded more information.
