Murdoch Says BSkyB Chief's Pay Deal Will Stand, Despite Protests.

Nov. 9--Rupert Murdoch, chairman of BSkyB, blamed "activist" pension funds for a massive protest at the annual meeting yesterday against the multi-million pound pay package given to chief executive Tony Ball.
Sky refused to consider changing the pay policy despite concern that Ball's contract fails to meet industry guidelines.
Murdoch, whose News Corporation empire controls 36 percent of BSkyB, said: "We had a deal (with Ball) long before these activists got going. The executives are a fine bunch and are rewarded appropriately."
He dismissed shareholder concerns that News Corp exerts an undue influence on the board. However, 15 percent voted against...
