Nov. 15--When owners of The Speakeasy did research on their namesakes from the 1920s, they went to the Internet and tapped in the keywords Prohibition and Al Capone.

Speakeasies were secret drinking places run by gangsters during the decade alcohol was illegal in America.

The owners then drove down to Chicago to check out a few modern watering holes.

The result: The bar opening Saturday at 425 W. College Ave., Appleton, has a cozy, hidden-away feeling with Art Deco artwork, dark oak floors, walls painted the deep color of red leather and a couple of bullet holes in the windows.
