Consumer-Rights Measure on Information Privacy Returns to California Senate.

Dec. 3--SACRAMENTO, Calif.--A measure to give consumers a say over whether financial institutions can sell or share their private information with affiliates and other companies, a hotly debated proposal that has failed to win the Legislature's blessing for three years running, was resurrected Monday by Sen. Jackie Speier.

The Democrat from Hillsborough joined with Senate President Pro Tem John Burton, D-San Francisco, to introduce SB1, a bill similar to legislation Speier pushed last year and earlier this year but was defeated in August by the Assembly.
