Dec. 9--STUART, Fla. -- Since retiring from his ophthalmology practice more than a year ago, Bob Baratta's job as president and chief executive officer of Stuart-based UltraStrip Systems Inc. has kept him busy.
Two weeks ago, UltraStrip was added to a federal government list of preferred vendors for a five-year contract. The company makes the M3500, a robot that peels paint off big ships.
"It makes us much more visible for government work," Baratta said.
The M3500, which sells for more than $1 million, uses water pressure as high as 50,000 pounds per square inch to remove the paint, which is then filtered out.
