Eagle Family Foods to Close Chester, S.C., Creamer Plant.

Dec. 8--CHESTER, S.C.--A couple of days before Eagle Family Foods announced it would close its plant in Chester, Mike Layton relaxed in his home, watching a 6 p.m. newscast about layoffs.
A few days later, the 47-year-old father of one found himself in the same position as the workers he watched.
"Now I'm just like those people I saw," said Layton, a 28-year Eagle employee. "As I watched the news, I thought then what would I do. It's just a coincidence that two days down road the same thing happened to me."
Layton, who had hoped to retire from Eagle, isn't the only one. Twenty-one of the company's 79 employees were let go this week as the company...
