Hewlett-Packard Creates Technology Subcommittee, Advisory Board.

Dec. 19--In an unusual step for a large company, Hewlett-Packard's board of directors has created a subcommittee to help ensure that the Palo Alto computer and printer giant doesn't miss any more big technology revolutions.

HP has also created a technology advisory board peopled with luminaries like Internet pioneer Vinton Cerf to give it outside perspective on its strategy.

"When the Internet came along in the mid-1990s, I think we very much missed the boat," said George Keyworth, a nuclear physicist and former federal official who has served on HP's board for 17 years.
