Dec. 19--Florida State University champions don't come more garnet-and-gold than T.K. Wetherell -- the former House speaker, community-college president and Seminole football player chosen Wednesday as the school's 13th president.
FSU's board of trustees ended a three-month national search by embracing the man presumed at the start to be the favorite to succeed to retiring President Sandy D'Alemberte in Tallahassee.
After a final interview, the board voted 12-1 for Wetherell, passing over finalists with far more extensive credentials and higher national profiles.
