Adelphia Communications Cable Subscribers in South Florida to See Rate Hikes.

Dec. 20--Many of Adelphia Communications Corp.'s cable television subscribers in South Florida will see rate hikes next spring.

The company announced Thursday that some customers would start to receive notices of an average 6 percent increase to their bills as the company tries to offset upgrade costs and rising programming costs.

The new rates start taking effect Feb. 1 and will impact about 230,000 of the company's 550,000 customers in Palm Beach County and about most of its 80,000 subscribers in Miami-Dade County.
