Microsoft Ordered to Carry Java Programming Language.

Dec. 24--Microsoft's winning streak in court came to an end yesterday when a federal judge ordered the company to distribute the Java programming language in its Windows operating system.
In granting a preliminary injunction, U.S. District Judge J. Frederick Motz in Baltimore largely agreed with Java-creator Sun Microsystems, which earlier this year sued Microsoft, claiming it used its operating-system monopoly to hurt Java.
The decision does not close the case between the two competitors. But the order will remain in effect until the case is settled or goes to trial.
