Dec. 27--Cynthia Trudell began her career as a researcher in chemical engineering in the late 1970s but quickly learned it wasn't the job for her.
"I thought I was going to be a professor of research," said Trudell, who today is president of Sea Ray Boat Group, one of Knoxville's largest employers. "You work alone a lot of times in research. When I started talking to myself and answering, I realized I was probably in the wrong place at the wrong time. I realized something was missing in my life."
It was actually Trudell's husband, Brian, who suggested a career change.
