Lady Baltimore Foods Files for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy in Topeka, Kan.

Jan. 7--Embroiled in a food fight with giant wholesaler U.S. Foodservice Inc., Lady Baltimore Foods Inc. and an affiliate have filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
The filings last week in Topeka come just months after Lady Baltimore sold many of its assets to U.S. Foodservice. The sale essentially marked the end of the venerable local company's food service operations. The terms of the deal were not announced.
Since then, the two companies have been engaged in a bitter legal dispute in federal court in Atlanta. In a complaint filed last month, U.S. Foodservice alleged that food products it purchased from Lady Baltimore violated various health standards....
