Farmers Market Committee Might Decide between Columbia, S.C.-Area Counties.

Jan. 8--A state committee could decide today between sites offered by Lexington and Richland counties. For the past several months, the counties have been caught in a state-fostered bidding war over which one will win the market.

In a surprise move Tuesday, state Sen. Hugh Leatherman said there might be a last-minute third site under consideration. Leatherman, R-Florence, and chairman of the State Farmers Market Oversight Committee, said the site in Richland County would be pitched by Columbia real estate company Colliers Keenan, not county officials.

He declined further comment.
