Officials Call Road-Safety Program Lifesaver.

Jan. 12--A program aimed at increasing police enforcement and decreasing drunken driving probably saved many lives during the holidays in Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, New Mexico and Texas, an official said.
From Dec. 20 through Jan. 5, 1,100 police agencies in five states agreed to participate in Operation Blue TALON, a spokeswoman for the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said.
