Proposed Thai Powdered Egg Plant Could Absorb Surplus.

Jan. 17--Egg traders and producers want the government to fund the establishment of a powdered egg plant to absorb the local surplus.

A preliminary study puts the cost of the plant at around 200 million baht with a capacity to process up about 300,000 eggs per day, generating around 4.5 tonnes of powdered eggs.

Currently, local egg output is about 24 million a day, against consumption of 21-22 million.

Egg prices usually fell by about 20 percent during the winter season, when production normally increased by around 3-5 percent, according to Sanchai Chuanchairat, president of the Hen Egg Producers, Traders and Exporters Association.
