Bloomington, Ind., Economic Development Group Focuses on Future.

Jan. 17--With more than 2 million square feet of vacant industrial and warehouse space and more than 220,000 square feet of available office space in Monroe County, the Bloomington Economic Development Corp. has its work cut out for it in 2003.

The business booster group met Wednesday afternoon for a gala annual meeting in the lobby of the Indiana University Auditorium. Gerald Bepko, interim president of IU, told a gathering of about 100 BEDC members and supporters that IU is a critical engine for economic development in the state. Bepko said he will continue the agenda of his predecessor, Myles Brand.
