Redmond, Wash.-Area Homebuyers Break Camp after Staking Their Claims.

Jan. 18--A weeklong camp-out for affordable new homes near Redmond ended last weekend with a healthy mix of bagels, coffee and sweet relief.

Fifty-seven homebuyers trudged into the Quadrant Homes sales office at Redmond Ridge -- complete with refreshments -- and waited until their names were called for the chance to sign up for a three-bedroom home for $235,000 to $262,000, considered quite a bargain on the Eastside.

For the buyers, most of whom were young families, the end of sleeping in motor homes and snacking on cold cuts for a great deal also meant saying goodbye to their future neighbors -- at least for a while.
