North Dakota Governor's Father, A Banker, Has Ties to Aberdeen, S.D.

Jan. 19--Although his son is in charge of North Dakota, Jack Hoeven is from South Dakota.
Hoeven, whose son John is the governor of North Dakota, was born in Aberdeen.
Hoeven has lived in North Dakota since 1956. Since 1964 he has been a resident of Minot, N.D., where he is chairman of First Western Bank & Trust. In addition to his banking work, he spent four years on the North Dakota State Board of Higher Education, including one year as president.
Before all that, though, he graduated from Aberdeen Central High School in 1948.
He is the son of the late Muriel and Dr. John H. Hoeven, who was an Aberdeen dentist.
