Jan. 22--Forrester Research Inc., the Cambridge technology research firm, said yesterday it reached a deal to buy Kendall Square neighbor Giga Information Group Inc. for about $60 million in cash.
Both firms have been hard hit by the collapse in high-tech spending by their corporate clients since the 1990s Internet bubble burst. For Forrester, best known for providing high-level technology analysis to corporate decision-makers, Giga's franchise in advising information technology specialists about nuts-and-bolts product buying decisions offers a chance to broaden its potential market and boost profits.
