Fund Pledges $1 Million for Paducah, Ky., Performing Arts Center Campaign.

Jan. 23--Ingram Barge Co. turned rock hauling on the Tennessee and Ohio rivers into cold, hard cash for the Four Rivers Center for the Performing Arts in Paducah.

Orrin Ingram, president and chief executive officer of Ingram Industries, announced Wednesday that the Ingram Charitable Fund Inc. has pledged $1 million as part of the campaign to raise the final $8 million for the project.

"The arts are good for the economy, but more importantly, they add quality of life and educational programs for the children of the community that cannot be measured in dollars," Ingram said. "This, in turn, helps our communities compete for new industry and new jobs."
