Jan. 29--TAMPA, Fla.--Speak Arabic? The CIA wants you.
Since the CIA ran its first-ever help-wanted advertisements for Arab-Americans in Tampa and four other cities Jan. 19, resumes have poured in, CIA spokesman Mark Mansfield said Tuesday.
Mansfield couldn't say how many Tampa Bay area Arab- Americans want to become CIA spies. But he said more than 250 resumes were received nationally, or more than double the normal rate of Arab applicants.
"Of those, about half claimed to speak native-level Arabic," Mansfield said. "They're fluent, which is really impressive. It's exactly what we're looking for."
