United Airlines' Board Sends Back Restructuring Plan to Management for Changes.

Jan. 31--United Airlines' board of directors on Thursday reviewed the carrier's restructuring plan -- which union leaders have ripped -- and sent it back to management for more details and analysis.

United, the nation's second-largest carrier, filed for bankruptcy protection Dec. 9.

"The board encouraged the management team to pursue further detail and analysis of the plan's strategic initiatives, which it agreed formed a sound basis for the company's plan of reorganization," United said in a statement.

United has not publicly released details of the business plan, although the company has said it will create a new, low-cost carrier aimed at competing with the likes of...
