Feb. 13--Toyota is about to invade another piece of traditional American turf: NASCAR racing.

Toyota announced Wednesday at the media preview of the Chicago Auto Show that it will enter its Tundra pickup next year in NASCAR's Craftsman Truck series, becoming the first Japanese manufacturer to take on Chevrolet, Ford and Dodge in a major stock-car circuit.

The Craftsman Truck series is a step below NASCAR's top-level Winston Cup series, but it attracts some of the sport's top teams and gives up-and-coming drivers a training ground for the Winston Cup.
