Server Shipments Help Dell Post Bigger Profit.

Feb. 14--Dell Computer Corp. said Thursday that its fourth-quarter shipments of computer servers increased 28 percent from last year, giving the Texas company a boost in its strategy to make bigger profit by selling more complex devices.
Dell, based in the Austin suburb of Round Rock, had fourth-quarter income of $603 million, or 23 cents a share, up from $456 million, or 17 cents a share, a year earlier.
Revenue rose to $9.74 billion from $8.06 billion.
The computer maker has wowed Wall Street throughout the economic slump by expanding its profit and increasing its sales while other technology companies foundered.
