Congress to Approve New Federal Courthouse for Orlando, Fla.

Feb. 14--After a fight over architecture delayed the project for a year, Congress appears ready to approve $79.2 million to build a new federal courthouse in downtown Orlando.
The House on Thursday approved the $397 billion spending bill that contains the courthouse funding. The Senate was expected to consider the bill today, and President Bush has said he'll approve the plan.
The courthouse project was a last-minute addition. On a copy of the bill that House members reviewed, a hand-written "Orlando, United States Courthouse, $79,261,000" was squeezed in between lines of other projects in the printed budget plan.
