Norfolk, Va., Pursues Sale of Former African-American Hospital.

Feb. 15--NORFOLK, Va.--It's not every day that a hospital goes up for sale.
The city of Norfolk hopes to sell the building that once housed Norfolk Community Hospital, which closed its doors in 1998 after more than 80 years of service, City Attorney Bernard Pishko said.
For the past few years, Norfolk has leased the building on Corprew Avenue, near Norfolk State University, to the hospital's former president, Phillip D. Brooks.
Brooks has managed the building through a business called Norfolk Community Medical Group, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in January, listing debts of nearly $200,000.
