Lexington, Ky.-Area Ice Storm Has Utility Scrambling to Restore Power.

Feb. 17--A little after dark on Saturday, Kentucky Utilities spokesman Cliff Feltham noticed that television weather maps were showing a band of pink over Lexington.

That meant the freezing rain forecast for Northern Kentucky was dipping farther south.

Temperatures were dropping, and the rain system was moving very slowly.

"We were sitting ducks," Feltham said.

Sometime between 11 p.m. and midnight Saturday, branches started snapping under the increasing ice coating.

Some of those branches pulled down power lines. A house lost power here, two or three were knocked out there.
