Dell Computer, Hewlett-Packard Wage Battle for Dominance.

Feb. 20--Two U.S. computer giants are waging a global battle for dominance, trying to become the No. 1 PC seller in key countries in their quest to take over the technology world.
Dell Computer Corp. and Hewlett-Packard Co., the world's two biggest PC makers, are combating local rivals and each other country by country, from France and Germany to China and Japan.
Their strategies are akin to a giant game of Risk, the board game in which players move their armies around the globe to build empires. If PC makers can concentrate their resources in important countries and win them away from rivals, they can spread their influence throughout continents.
