Dallas Trade Show Features Grocery-Store Technology.

Feb. 24--After months of tests and research, ChevronTexaco Corp. is finally ready this year to spend on technology for its convenience stores. Its decision could be a signal of better times to come for tech companies.

ChevronTexaco will put computerized cash registers made by Frisco-based Fujitsu Transaction Solutions Inc. into 8,500 of its 25,000 stores. Fujitsu plans to announce the deal this week at the Marketechnics trade show in Dallas.

Fujitsu and other attendees at the convention, which focuses on technology for grocery stores, said 2003 could be a banner year for the retail sector's high-tech purchases.
