Feb. 24--A look at publicly traded companies based in South Carolina or operating in the Palmetto State that were in the news last week:
BOWATER INC.: SPARTANBURG, S.C.--Greenville Standard & Poor's Ratings Service on Wednesday cut its corporate credit ratings for Bowater and Abitibi-Consolidated Inc., the nation's two largest newsprint makers. Their ratings were cut to stable BB , a non-investment grade rating, based on outlook for the companies. Bowater has $2.4 billion in debt. Bowater stock closed the week at $39.40, up $1 on Friday.
COASTAL BANKING CO.: BEAUFORT, S.C.--The bank company earned $516,000, or 54 cents a share, in all of 2002. That's up from a profit of...
