AK Steel Turns Acquisition Focus to Reaching Labor Pact.

Feb. 27--MIDDLETOWN, Ohio--The Federal Trade Commission notified AK Steel Corp. Wednesday that antitrust agencies have closed the waiting period ahead of schedule on AK's proposed acquisition of National Steel Corp.
The U.S. Department of Justice has reviewed AK's and U.S. Steel's competing bids for National under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Act, AK officials said. National officials said earlier this month that the department issued a second request for information on U.S. Steel's bid, a possible sign of antitrust concerns under the act.
