New Union Leader at Walt Disney World Pledges Tougher Stance in Contract Talks.

Mar. 8--In a surprisingly light vote at a time when many workers' hours are being slashed at Walt Disney World, hotel and restaurant union insider Margie Engels easily won the top job in this week's election. Only 591 of nearly 4,500 members of the Hotel Employees & Restaurant Employees Union Local 737, the attraction's largest labor group, voted with their mail-in ballots after a bitter campaign.
Engels, a 20-year Local 737 executive in Orlando, won the $95,000 job as secretary-treasurer. She is a protg of Harvey Totzke, who held the union local's top job for two decades and is stepping down for health reasons.
