Lowell, Mass.-Area Ginger-Ale Makers Vow to Put Back Fizz.

Mar. 10--Troubled by reports that its brand of Chelmsford Ginger Ale is inferior to the original, Polar Beverages plans to do whatever it takes to replicate the spicy blast that customers have come to expect.

"We're going to make the Chelmsford Ginger Ale that people are used to -- the hot, spicy ginger ale people want," said Chris Crowley, Polar executive vice president. "Don't give up on us." The Worcester-based company picked up Chelmsford Ginger Ale last month, and now bottles the drink for Demoulas Supermarkets Inc.

Coca-Cola of Northern New England dropped the brand in November after almost 20 years, saying it was no longer a financial winner.
