Georgia Ethics-Panel Member Can Stay for Now.

Mar. 15--A Georgia Ethics Commission member whose appointment had been in doubt may continue to serve on the watchdog panel, Gov. Sonny Perdue's lawyer said Friday.
Pamela James Doumar was named to the commission last summer by Gov. Roy Barnes. But the state Senate did not confirm her before Barnes left office, and Perdue wants a new slate of commission members. With two vacancies on the five-member panel, the commission could not conduct business if Doumar were not allowed to serve.
The commission's chairman, Sam Nicholson, has asked Perdue to seek Doumar's confirmation even though his predecessor appointed her. But the governor's executive counsel,...
