Capitol Federal Financial to Discontinue Separate News Release on Earnings.

Mar. 18--Capitol Federal Financial has killed its earnings news release.

The Topeka-based thrift said it will no longer announce quarterly earnings results before making its official filing with regulators. Moreover, its management said it thinks other companies eventually will reach the same decision.

"I think companies will stop issuing press releases" until the official filings are made, said Neil McKay, chief financial officer at Capitol Federal.

Starting with its next report, Capitol Federal will announce its earnings the same day it files its federally required 10-Q report with the Securities and Exchange Commission, McKay said.
