Mexican-Owned Firms Make Strides in Toledo, Ohio, Area.

Mar. 19--Tia Rosa Bakery of Ohio has hired 22 workers since the beginning of the year and added two shifts after beginning to make tortillas for a sister company in Texas and products for the Chicago market.
The 64-employee north Toledo factory isn't satisfied with supplying flour and corn tortillas as well as tortilla chips to grocery and restaurant distributors throughout Ohio and some Midwestern and Southern states. It has set its sites on Charlotte, N.C., and its parent company is going into ultra-competitive Detroit, said plant manager Jerry Stump.
More workers may be needed in a few weeks, he said.
